An explosion of outrage over the burning of the Koran in a US military base has plunged relations between Afghans and their Western allies to an all-time low. Days of violent protests have seen Afghan security forces turn their weapons on US soldiers, rampaging demonstrators attack Western targets and NATO pull all its advisors out of government ministries.
