Last month on November 8, when everyone was waiting for the outcome of US presidential elections, PM Narendra Modi came up with his master stroke idea of demonetization where 500 and 1000 rupees note were ceased. This brought the whole country into chaos. Initially my family and I panicked a little but later on as and when the process was been conveyed to us, we relaxed a little.

Ceasing of 500 and 1000 rupees note was inconvenient for me as there was a constant problem of having that many 100 rupees note. On the first few days of demonetization the banks weren’t working so we had to manage with the 100 rupees note available with us. Buying small things like fruits and vegetables was a little difficult as card payment cannot be made for the same. We had to spend the money more carefully and only when necessary. During the first week of demonetization we couldn’t go out at restaurants or for movies. Later when 2000 rupees note were out, there was again the problem of getting change. Very few people gave change of 2000 rupees when it was out.

I personally have not faced a lot of problem because of demonetization but it was a little inconvenient. I feel that it is a good initiative by the PM to fight corruption, terrorism and black money. Its been 50 days now and things are getting better now with the flow of new 500 and 2000 rupees note. Little inconvenience is bare able for the positive long-lasting effects.
