In an April 9th conference, the European Parliament (EP) gave its full support of Maryam Rajavi’s ten-point plan for regime change in Iran. Members of the EP also demanded an end to executions and human rights abuses in Iran. They urged further protection for residents at Camp Liberty and a UN probe into the Camp Ashraf massacre as well.

Mrs Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Nation Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), spoke at the conference:

“Last week’s hysterical rhetoric of the Mullahs in reaction to the EU resolution regarding the violation of Human Rights in Iran indicates that the issue of human rights is the Achilles’ heel of this regime.

Ten months after Rouhani took office, the unprecedented number of executions and criminal massacres at Camp Ashraf and Camp Liberty prove that this government does not have any capacity for reform and moderation. The solution is regime change.

Acknowledging the right of the Iranian people and their demand for regime change, and providing protection for the residents of Camp Liberty, is both the desire of the Iranian people and vital for the world community to secure regional and global peace and tranquillity.”

Speakers at the conference stressed that Iran never abandoned its plan to attain a nuclear weapon, and that human rights abuses have worsened, with 700 executions already under the reign of President Hassan Rouhani.  The president also put a dent in US relations by appointing Hamid Aboutalebi as the Iranian regime’s Ambassador to the United Nations. Aboutalebi was involved in the 1979 hostage crisis at the US embassy in Iran and in the political assassination of MEK member Mohammad Hossein Naghdi in 1993.On Wednesday 9 April, a high level conference on Iran was held in the European Parliament.

The Iranian regime’s worst human rights violations deal with its handling of political opposition groups. The regime is seeking to annihilate the organized opposition in Camp Liberty in Iraq, with the assistance of its puppet government in Baghdad.

The conference highlighted a number of these ghastly human rights abuse, including the massacre of 52 PMOI members in Ashraf on September 1, 2013 and the repeated missile barrages on Camp Liberty. By remaining silent and refusing to act, the US, UN, and EU have all created a very perilous situation for these refugees. Delegates expressed the need for protection and medical equipment and the permanent stationing of UN observers and Blue Helmet peacekeepers at Camp Liberty.
