Protesters in Portugal

Tens of thousands of people protested austerity measures on that country which they say has devastated the working class people. Some estimates put the crowd well above 100.000 people but the protests were very peaceful and not incidents of police brutality were recorded. It will be recalled that many nations in Europe are being forced to adopt harsh austerity measures as a result of the recession that was caused by irresponsible banks and bankers who gambled with the world’s finances. Other countries that are pushing austerity measures down the throats of their citizens include Spain and Greece, with Greece being the more popular one, as its struggles have been better documented in the world press.
