Rivers’ House of Assembly Condemns Police invasion of Obio/Akpor secretariat
The Rivers’ State House of Assembly has condemned in the strongest of terms the recent invasion and subsequent sealing-off and besieging of the Obio/Akpor local government council secretariat and the clamp down on officers of the council at exactly 2.00 pm by the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu through the instrumentality of the Divisional Police Officer Rumuokoro Police Divisional Headquarters, while the workers were going about their lawful duties, in total breach of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as Amended) and the Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, saying it smacks of “ living in uncertain times and can no longer be sure of the safety of lives and property in Rivers State”.
The Rivers State House of Assembly who stated this in a Press release warned the citizens of Rivers State of perpetual plan to gradually collapse the security apparatus and dismantling of democratic structures of the state with the intention of preparing for the declaration of a STATE OF EMERGENCY in Rivers State.

ORCHESTRATED PLOT TO DESTABILIZE RIVERS STATE
Dear Citizens of Rivers State and Nigeria, On the 30th of April 2013 we did warn of a continuous planned gradual collapse of the security apparatus and dismantling of democratic structures of the state with the intention of preparing for the declaration of a STATE OF EMERGENCY in Rivers State.
Today the 3rd of May, 2013, without any security breach or semblance of same, the first stage of the preparation was commenced with the invasion and subsequent sealing-off and besieging of the Obio/Akpor local government council secretariat and the clamp down on officers of the council at exactly 2.00 pm by the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu through the instrumentality of the Divisional Police Officer Rumuokoro Police Divisional Headquarters, while the workers were going about their lawful duties, in total breach of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as Amended) and the Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria.
As at press time the premises of the council was barricaded by heavily armed and ferocious looking policemen, the workers ordered out of premises and the Chairman and members of Caretaker Committee were locked in, having refused to vacate the premises without any valid instrument of law.
We strongly condemn in strong terms this action by the Commissioner of Police and say that we are living in uncertain times and can no longer be sure of the safety of lives and property in Rivers State.
Consequently, we call on the Inspector General of Police to cause an investigation to be carried out on this brazen abuse of power by the Commissioner of Police Rivers State Mr. Mbu J. Mbu and redeploy him out of Rivers State, before he plunges this peaceful state into a state of anarchy.
We call on all Rivers People and Nigerians to be vigilant as protests have been planned by the Abuja based Rivers Politicians and their sponsors to destabilize the state as to create a STATE OF EMERGENCYin Rivers State, to achieve their inordinate political ambitions.
Meanwhile, we ask one and all to be peaceful and law abiding in the midst of these orchestrated provocations.

Rugby is great with all achieved so far and i say kudos to those mikang it happening particularly Nigerian rugby crew.Actually, am a rugby freak and i play rugby for BARBARIAN EAGLE in O.A.U i heard you promised a kind of program for us on rugby please,we expecting and don’t let it to be to late. Finally,i will want say the awareness of rugby is still due to what ve encounter,in the sense that some don’t know rugby and you trying to explain to them they think of american football eventually if known they tell you it doesn’t ve a bright future in Nigeria. Way forward,one i think or suggest when a tournament like that of december 2009 occurs,at least the highlight of the matches should show on our national tv’s if not even the star matches. Secondly,we should carry clubs that lack one or two skill(s) along in the race,like ours Barbarian eagle,we are all student and this can be done by getting coach for clubs like this. Third and lastly,it goes to government instead of we wasting money on sport like football that even we their compulsory fans know they have nothing to bring home 4 their ancestors and not me,then we should spend wisely on other sport that will favour us.
