The recent statements of Iran’s representative on the circumstances of Ukrainian Boeing PS752 crash in the sky of Iran on Jan.8 2020 caused international tensions.
On the Apr.5 2020 the representative of Iranian parliament legal and judicial commission Hassan Norouzi stated that Iranian militaries did the right thing by shooting civil board, which reportedly “acted in the suspicious way and was out of control of Iranian airport dispatchers, because it was controlled by American militaries”. Norouzi also told that “no arrests have been made concerning the downing”.
Boeing 737-800 was downed in air above Teheran by air defense missiles of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, all 167 passengers (including citizens of Canada, Sweden, Iran, Germany) and 9 members of flight crew (citizens of Ukraine) died.
Official Teheran had finally recognized that Boeing was shot down because of human error. Supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei recognized the fact of downing Boeing and sent his condolence to the families of victims during his official statement. Later, the chief of Aerospace Force of IRGC Ali Hadjizadeh admitted that he takes full responsibility for downing of Ukrainian aircraft. The investigation team concluded the Boeing was shot down by Russian missile “TOR”.
But now, in the time the attention of the whole world and all international organizations is fastened to the fighting the increasing COVID-19 pandemic, Iran decided to admit no guilty in murder of 176 people and to finish the investigation of the catastrophe.
Nevertheless, probably Iranian establishment is not enough sure, whether this strategy of full self-justification is right one, that is why Norouzi mentioned in his interview the absolutely unproven facts that “the flight of Ukrainian Boeing was suspicious”.
He named the downing of civil board and murder of 176 persons the right thing, which nobody will be punished for.
Let’s sum it up: Iran officially stated its guilty on highest level, then it was provided the investigation under the careful control of international society and the experts confirmed the fact the aircraft was shot down by IRGC air defense missile. Now, in the time the attention of the whole world is aimed to fight pandemic of dangerous decease – Iran rejects its own confirmed guiltiness. Such behavior is absolutely reprehensible and it creates reasonable doubts about any possible negotiations with Iran as civilized country.
That is the best evidence that no review of anti-Iranian sanctions (even under the circumstances of pandemic) is possible. Sanctions against Iran must be continued, because the final target of them is to stop Iranian nuclear program and obtaining nuclear weapon by Iran.
It is absolutely obvious that in case modern regime of ayatollahs cynically rejects the previous recognition of shooting down civil board, the next step can be threats of using nuclear weapons against the world. That is the first reason for nuclear researches of Iran.
