…appeals to party chieftains, social media aides to stop media warfare on party chairmanship zoning, wait for real deal on congress d-day

The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr (Barrister) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has congratulated the newly sworn-in 25 Local Governments Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and their Ward executives, urging them to put the interests of party first, before group and personal ambitions.

Oghenesivbe made the appeal in a goodwill message to the party scribes who were inaugurated at the State Party Secretariat in Asaba, by the state party chairman, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, on Tuesday 5th May, 2020.

He noted that PDP in the state is the only political party with focus, clear cut direction and united in all fronts, adding that there was no need for petty squabbles and social media warfare on who becomes the next State Chairman of the party.

The EA Communications pointed out that the state party leader and Government of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, former Governor of Delta State and leader of leaders, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, delegates and other musketeers of the party shall do the needful to ensure that the forthcoming State Congress  produced a generally accepted party Chairman.

Oghenesivbe who is a Fellow of the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration, F.CIDA and member of the American Political Science Association, APSA, further asserted that PDP as a  pivotal entity of constitutional democracy in Nigeria, is respected all over the world for her excellent track records in progressive internal democracy, enduring political structures and respect for constituted authorities.

He opined that it is a disservice to the party, and an act of insubordination for any party member or media aides to chieftains of the party to openly and in the mass media cast aspersions and/or castigate the person of the State Party Chairman, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, without recourse to decency.

Gov Okowa’s EAC also disclosed that the time is ripe for him to combine political communication with grassroots mobilization, and downplay on funding political activities through proxy, noting that the events of the 2019 general elections in Ward 6, Unit 13 in Ethiope East LGA where few or one individual claimed the glory for a job done through collective efforts will not repeat itself in the near future.

In the light of the above, he assured that his political pressure group due to be launched before the end of 2020, shall sufficiently and convincingly register it’s presence in the  political landscape of Ward 6 and Ethiope East LGA, in line with the directive of the State Party Chairman, that party members should dwell more on grassroots mobilization as we gradually approach another era of political chess game.

“Politics is local and any political gladiator who ignores grassroots politics will have his or her political career strangulated. I will invent new strategies in local politics. The architectural designs of my ‘Political Dome’ is ready and it shall be one of the arena for local politicking.

“I congratulate our capacity PDP LGA chairmen,  Ward Chairmen and excos across the three senatorial districts for their victories and successful inauguration. You are the best in this dispensation. May God protect, guide and direct your activities and service to our great party, PDP.

“I want to also use this medium to appeal to some of our  party chieftains and their media aides to, as a matter of necessity, shield their swords and do away with social media warfare in connection with the forthcoming state party congress.

“Our party is blessed with central political structures that we are loyal to, and it is only fair for us to engage in internal consultations, negotiations, and in the same token, abstain from prosecuting our esteemed leaders and party in the  public court of opinion.

“As ardent and loyal party members we are expected to explore party internal democracy windows and abhor media upper-cuts in our quest for political relevance and group struggles for state chairmanship slot, as can be seen from the sustained social media altercations between camps. This is unacceptable, let’s stop it now please.

“The state congress is very important to our party. Be rest assured that our political craftsmen, the delegates and our esteemed leaders shall ensure that the best candidate emerge as winner, in due course. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, wait patiently for the final outcome of the forthcoming state congress.

“I salute the leadership of our party, and the  accomplishments of our incumbent Chairman, Barrister Kingsley Esiso and his team, for securing landslide victory for PDP and her candidates during the 2019 general elections.

“We are indeed very happy over the superlative governorship election results which humbled the major opposition party in the state. This is what visionary leadership is all about.

“Esiso and his team worked very hard to ensure free, fair and transparent party LGA elections and subsequent inauguration of the Excos. It is a thing of joy, for which we must again and again commend the party leadership in the state, with the governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, at the helm of affairs.

“it is hoped that the forthcoming state congress will further add impetus to the existing landmarks of Delta PDP, by bringing on board in 2020, state party exco that will further grow the party, as well as capable of delivering project 2023 and beyond, without blemish” Oghenesivbe prayed.
