This is a short version of a 16 minute long documentary I filmed in Burma in January 2011.

The lack of education in Burma is desperate and visible. For generations, people have been
denied access to their basic human rights such as right to education and the right to child
protection. I was shocked and saddened when I saw children, instead of being at school,
working on the side of the road.
The government uses education as a strategic tool to control young people physically and mentally.
Obviously, there is a lot to be done to restore Burmese education to its former high standards.

  1. This is likely where American education is headed under this current Republican Party onslaught. Sadly many Americans don’t understand the meaning of good education and are in support of gutting the education department. No country can stand without a good education backbone and anybody who doubts that should look at countries like Burma. Good documentary.
