Imagine one day, you received a message from your significant other, “Hi, I want to have a nice dinner and drinks in Ginza! I want to know your ideas since I know you’re a foodie!”

Ginza is the most expensive and luxurious area in Tokyo. There are many global brand stores, major companies, and sophisticated bars. You can find French full course meals, drinks at fancy bars, super delicious Japanese food and more in the town. But how much will your Ginza Dinner Quest cost?

No worries, there is a cheat code to help you complete this difficult adventure at a reasonable price. It’s called “Kuroco, Inc. “. This company runs three different types of high quality but reasonably priced eateries in Ginza, and all of them are within walking distance. Okay, let’s head inside the first restaurant, a French restaurant called “CACHETTE965”.

French Restaurant CACHETTE965

They offer unique French and Japanese fusion food at reasonable price. This time, we chose “Course CACHETTE” priced at 5,800JPY (tax & drink fee excluded, and an included table charge of 500JPY). The menu changes every month, and we tried January 2020 menu. There were seven items in total and we are going to introduce some from the course.

A chef will help you to choose your drinks if you can’t decide from various drinks.

This is “Smoked Kazunoko”. Kazunoko is very familiar to Japanese people because it is a mainstay of Osechi, Japanese New Year’s Cuisine. However, once it is smoked by the experienced chef, it tastes quite different and is way tastier. It also goes well with alcohol.

“Steamed splendid alfonsino with marinière source.”

We are in a French restaurant, but this dish is very similar to Japanese cuisine as it features splendid alfonsino and eggplant which go well with Sake.

I prefer sweet alcohol to sake, so the chef kindly mixed me a sweet and unique drink using whisky, soda and popcorn syrup! This is my first-time tasting popcorn syrup, and it was really good.

“Viande: Roasted Guinea fowl & Truffle”

We additionally ordered their signature, “965 TKG”. TKG is a Japanese abbreviation for Tamago Kake Gohan, which translates to raw egg on rice. Normally, TKG is considered a cheap dish for the masses. To be honest with you, I really don’t like TKG… So I really hesitated to order this, however, I made the right choice after all. This 965 TKG was totally different. It was a risotto with raw egg and mélange and Truffle on top. I’m sure you’d love this unique risotto even if you don’t like raw egg.

Dessert: Comport of Sour Pomelo

Tir na nog café & bar

The Tir na nog is a café & bar a few minutes’ walk away from CACHETTE965.

The venue is fantasy themed. They are open as a café during the day time, but this time we visited during bar time.

Their signature drink is the “Heavenly Lonely Flow”, a cocktail coved with this big cotton candy!

The cocktail is made from white rum, lemon juice, raspberry syrup, mint and soda. It goes well with the sweet cotton candy as the cocktail itself isn’t too sweet.  Cocktails are priced from 1,400 JPY to 1,700 JPY. Including the French cuisine, we have still yet to spend more than 10,000 yen! Next, we headed to a new Abura soba (Soup less ramen) place on foot.

Aburasoba Niningashi Ginza

The new Aburasoba Place “Niningashi” is located between Yurakucho station and Shimbashi station.

Aburasoba, or soupless noodles, has its origins in Tokyo. You can add seasonings such as vinegar and spicy oil to your liking.

Of course, the aburasoba is very tasty, but we strongly recommend you to taste the dessert, Annin Doofu on the left. It is very soft and has a rich taste like cheese cake.

We were able to enjoy food at three nice places in Ginza, one of the most expensive towns in Japan, but we didn’t spend more than 10,000JPY (drinks at the restaurant excluded). These places are good for various occasions. Don’t miss this very special, but reasonably priced foodie quest in Ginza.
