Today, the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced on his Twitter page that the United Arab Emirates will provide a “golden” residence permit for a period of 10 years to unique specialists from different professions. The most sought-after professionals in industries such as medicine, computer engineering, programming, electronics, biotechnology and electrical engineering, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Prime Minister on Twitter. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum signed a relevant decree granting this privilege to holders of doctoral degrees in medicine, computer engineering, electronics, programming, biotechnology and electrical engineering. Also, the ruler said that soon he will add to this list holders of higher scientific degrees in artificial intelligence, epidemiology, virology and some other specialties. This is only the “first group” of professionals for whom a “golden” residence permit in the UAE will be valid, the prime minister said. Thus, the United Arab Emirates wants to attract and retain the best minds, talented professionals who will participate in the development and improvement of the United Arab Emirates. By the way, until 2019, the maximum period of residence visas for foreigners was three years. In 2019, the UAE government allowed the issuance of five- and ten-year resident visas to certain categories of foreign citizens. These included entrepreneurs, scientists, investors, as well as highly skilled professionals and talented students. Now, as we can see, the list of persons for obtaining a “golden visa” has expanded and, according to the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, plans to continue to increase, providing a chance to work and live in the United Arab Emirates for more talented people.
