The woman at the center of the controversy surrounding the defunding of the Planned Parenthood association by the Susan G. Komen Foundation for cancer research has resigned reports msnbc. Susan G Komen’s vice president of operations, Karen Handel handed in her resignation this morning and will cease to work for the foundation immediately.
It should be noted that Handel, who ran for the governorship of the state of Georgia has been a prominent anti abortion advocate and campaigned on eliminating abortion while running for governor. She has been roundly and variously suspected of being the brains behind the sudden decision of the Komen Foundation to defund Planned Parenthood and has been under fire, with many calling for her resignation or firing.
