When I read that Arewa Youths have issued quit notice to Igbos living in Northern Nigeria, I laughed so hard my ribs hurt. When I finally got hold of myself, so many thoughts flashed through my mind.

I am a Biafran agitator. In fact, I want an all-Igbo Biafran sitting astride the River Niger. I have no time to those who feel inferior or intimidated by what the Igbos achieved between 1940 and 1970, and by how far the €20 Nigerian government rehabilitation grant carried them.

Why did I find the threat to flush out the Igbos from the North and seize their properties hilarious? Why was I not horrified by the prospects of a genocide?

What every Nigerian should know is that the Igbos have suffered genocide in Nigeria before. The perpetrators were rewarded with promotions in the Nigerian army, oil wells in the region that was Biafran and their names used to decorate our national buildings and currency. It was the threat of genocide, to finally wipe out Igbos from Nigeria, that made Biafran version 1 to last so long.

You see, as long as the Igbos are part of Nigeria, the threat of genocide and seizure of their properties in Nigeria will continue. My incongruous laughter was at those who believe in one Nigeria. I also laughed at those Amadis and Nwankwos and Nkechis who claim they are not Igbo.

If you are not preparing for an orderly dissolution of Nigeria now, you are preparing for her disorderly collapse. The Igbos are a conquered people. I am Igbo and I know. Do you think Governor Obi has equal stake with Governor Tambuwal? You can argue your brains out.

If you are Igbo and you are not making plans to leave Nigeria and form your own nation, make that plan for the sake of your children. The war has not ended. Use this long period of cease fire to negotiate your exit before mayhem visits.
